The benefits of a teen job

Securing a teen job is very hard and is becoming increasingly difficult with the sagging economy. With that being said, you should try as hard as you can because a teen job has a plethora of benfits now and in the future as well. Aside from the obvious benefit of making some cash and not having to ask your parents for money, there are many other benefits of teens getting a job. Here are the three benefits that I can think of:

When you land a job you are taking the first step towards responsibility, this help you in college and as an adult. You will learn things like the imprtance of being on time and follow through on your commitments. This can also improve the connection you have with your folks because you will start to understand the responsibilities they face everyday and you will know that money does not grow on trees.

Another benefit is that your ability to communicate will get better. Effective communication skills is the top skill that most companies look for when making a hiring decision. When you begin to work you will be interacting with customers, other employees and your superiors. This experience will be extremely valuable down the road.

Just having the chance to get some experience under your belt is another major benfit. It is a lot easier to secure another job when you have worked somewhere else prior., so if you have a chance to start your first job you should jump at the opportunity. Additionally most Universities will loo favorably upon you if you spent your free time working during school instead of hanging out at the mall. This will show then that you are responsible and able to multi-task.
