youngest bloggers?

I usually highlight teen bloggers and their blogs and other cool stuff that is relevant to teens. Today, I wanted to let you know that I think I found some of the youngest bloggers in the blogosphere. The sites are bloggingboy and blogginggirl and they are brother and sister from the Unites States. The blogs are brand new so there is not a ton of content but I am just amazed an impressed that they are starting off at such a young age. Bloggingboy is in the third grade and blogs about things like school karate, favorite TV shows, and Pokemon and Bakugan. Blogginggirl is in kindergarten, this just blows my mind. She logs about her day which includes school, gymnastics and shopping. Both of these blogs are fun to read and I will be keeping my eye on them both. I have a feeling they will be phenomenal teen bloggers in the coming years.  I was curious to find out how they got started in blogging and as I read further it seems like their dad is a major influence, as he is a popular blogger known as Tycoon Blogger . I guess the family that blogs together stays together.

Are there any other pre-teen bloggers out there? Let me know..

Coolest ringtone ever

Have you heard about the mosquito ringtone?  It is the latest craze sweeping the country.  If you have not heard about it yet, it is a ringtone that emits sound at 17 kHz.  OK, so what is the big deal with that, you might be saying.  Well, sounds in this range are only able to be heard by people under 20 years old.  This is because as people get older they lose their ability to hear certain ranges of sound.  Many teens are using this ringtone in school so they can keep up with their messages without their teachers noticing.  Take a look at this video to learn more and see if you can hear it.

Teen Blog Review _SerpentineGal

If you are looking for a great teen blog about nothing and everything at the same time, then you will want to check out SerpentineGal .  This is the personal blog of Hsu Jen, a typical teenage girl who does tyical teenager things.  The first thing you will notice is that the blog is very colorful and very “girly” in it’s modest design.  You will also notice that the blogger has a great sense of humor and writes to entertain her friends as well as a larger audience.  She blogs about a wide range of things that are going on, from model shoots to clubbing and even a trip to the local cupcake bakery.   the best part about this blog is all of the photos, it seems like she carries her camera with her wherever she goes.  I saw pictures of over 2 dozens different types of cupcakes, what she was eating for dinner, a night out on the town and very entertaining pictures of a New Years Eve party.

Overall, I would give this blog a “Teenagers Talk Rating” of 3.8 out of 5  as it does well on most of the review criteria. The content is fresh and vibrant. The level of activity is what is keeping this under a 4 rating.  I would to see daily or semi-daily blog updates.  The blog is easy to navigate and is clean and not flooded with ads or other useless garbage.   The blog also scores high on the unique factor, with a definite personal flair and style.  For a fun blog about a typical teen life, I recommend that you check out this blog.  This is a new blog, and I hope this teen blogger sticks with it.

Teen Reviews

This is an open call to all teenagers that have a blog or website and would like to have some free promotion and free backlinks.  As you know, TeenagersTalk.com is a teen review blog.  We report on what is cool on the web for teens.  Rather than randomly pick from the net, we wanted to invite our readers to submit their blogs and sites for an honest review.  We will write about your site and determine if it is cool or not.  The best way to let me know about your site is to just drop your site’s link in the comment section.  Simple enough, right..

Arcade site

I love to play games online.  It seems like there are a thousands of gaming sites and arcade sites on the net these days.  The problem is, there are only a couple really good free arcade the sites that are worth the time.  Let me save you some time and point you in the direction of the best arcade site I have found and the one that I play at daily.  The site is arcade-area.com It is free and has a wide range of games to choose from.  Categories include: action, fighting, puzzle, sports, racing, and shooting.   There is also a top 100, so you can easily see what is cool and what other people are playing.  The most popular game on the site and my personal favorite is, “Frankie the fish,” the goal is to eat other fish and get bigger and bigger.  It sounds simple, but believe me this game is extremely addictive.  In fact, the entire site is addictive.  Check it own when you get a chance..

Teen Forums

There are tons of teen forums out there and it seems like they are all the same.  If you have seen one then you have seen them all.  Well, I am happy to report that I found two forums that offers teens something a little different and in my opinion offer something better.  One of my favorite forums in ChristianTeenForums.com.  I am not a holy roller, but I like this site because it seems like these teens are more respectful and more mature than those on other forums.  For example, have you ever been to Arg.com, when you introduce yourself, the other members reply back, F**K you.  Come on, that is ridiculous and so immature.  Another cool teen forum that I stumbled up on is Teen Movement.  Teen Movement is a teen forum with substance.  They have forums that discuss issues that really matter to teens today, like the environment, family, careers and other substantive topics.  It is a much more sofisticated forum than others out there.

What are your favorite teen forums?

Let me know….

Best Teen Movie of 2008

Well the Oscars are over and all the hoopla has ended.  I wanted to give a voice to the millions of teenagers out there and talk about the movies that matter to us.  Come on, how many of us saw Frost-Nixon.  I sent out some emails and the “unofficial”  Teenagers Talk Movie of the Year is Pineapple Express.

Pineapple Express, directed by David Green, is a hilarious movie that offers laid back laughs and edge of your seat excitement.  Seth Rogan is the man, he delivers once again as the lead character Dale.  I will not dive into the whole plot because I do not want to ruin the movie for you.  What I will tell you is that Dales (Rogan) finds himself in the middle of a drug war and hilarity pursues.  Although the movie is centered around a drug theme, this is not the focus of the movie.

The movie is on video now and well worth the buck to rent it (Yeah, I said buck, I only rent from Redtube)

Congratulations Pineapple Express for winning the coveted Teenagers Talk Movie of the Year.

What do you guys think?

Would you have voted for something else?

MySpace is dead

Well not yet, but I thought that would be a good title to catch people’s attention.  MySpace is still alive and kicking, but how long can they survive is the question.  More and more teens that I talk to tell me that they are transitioning to Facebook and many tweens that I have surveyed say that they are skipping right over MySpace and going sites like Habbo and other virtual communities.

I for one think MySpace has gotten to be pretty lame.  The layout and the graphics are so junky, it reminds me of websites that I used to see when the Internet was first created.  I think that MySpace will have to make some major changes if they want to remain on top.  I am going to make a bold prediction here, I say in the next year they make a strong push into branding themselves as a Music portal rather than a broad social media portal.  I say this because that is their only saving grace and really the only thing that they have going for them, imho.

I sent out surveys to 100 teenagers and 36 responded back and out of those 36 respondents, 24 said that they use Myspace less now then they did a year ago and 16 claimed that they have moved on form MySpace completely.  Obviously, this is not a scientific study but I think it is evidence supporting my claim that MySpace is losing steam.

The thing that is crazy to me is that I just checked the Alexa rankings, and MySpace is the 4th most popular website in the US, one notch ahead of Facebook.  I guess it is hard to say that they are dead, I know many websites that would kill to be #4 in the US.  I will keep an eye on their rankings, and make another prediction.  Myspace and Facebookwill flip spots this year, with Facebook becoming the leading social networking site in the US.

What do you guys think, is MySpace dead? dying? or as strong as ever?

Hit me up..

And the Teen Bloggie goes to…

Yes, award season is upon us. No, I am not talking about the Oscars, I am talking about something much bigger.  The 2009 Bloggies will be held on March 16th and there are some very good blogs nominated in the Teen category.  I am sure we will be nominated next year (a little wishful thinking can go a long way)

And the nominees are:

Reliquese -(kay.dubious.nu)

Great blog about a Canadian High School senior and her outlook on life.

Sarcastica (sarcastica.org)

The musings of a sarcastic teen and her rants on everything and anything.  I personally love this blog, the design is awesome and the writing is fresh and on point.  I am a big fan and this has a great shot at winning.

Chiklita (Chiklita.net)

A solid blog about a 21 year girls life and experience in college, relationships and her pets.  A very well written blog.  The post are kind of sparse, one or two a week at most.  This may be a deciding factor in the voting.

Sea of Shoes (seaofshoes.com)

A blog about all things related to fashion, hats, bags, belts, and of course, shoes.  Not my cup of tea, but is a well designed and well put together blog.

Are there any guys that blog.  Seriously, all of these bloggers are female.  Next year I will make sure that I change that…

And the winner goes to:

Teenagers Talk, oh wait, I am getting ahead of myself again..

My vote goes to Sarcastica.

Teen Movie Critic

criticDo you like movies?  Why not be the next Teen Movie Critic?.  If you have never heard of the site Dreamagic.com you are missing out on one of the original websites on the web dating back well over a decade.  The site is very “old school” contains no web 2.0 elements whatsoever but is still cool and still relevant.  The site  gets a ton of traffic, over 20,000 unique visitors per month and has a great page rank from google.  Back in 1994, the creators of Dreamagic are credited with creating one of the first blogs ever on the web.  It was about this time that the Teen Movie Critic was born.  The Teen Movie Critic was the first movie review site on the Internet.  There have been 4 teen movie critics over the years but the most well known and the original is Roger Davidson.  Rodger became a cult hero during his reign as the Teen Movie Critic, appearing on People Magazine and numerous other publications.  Roger is now a very talented movie maker.  There have been 3 successors and they are now looking for Teen Movie Critic # 5.  Here is the “job description”
